The Great Naruto Bridge is a long, wide bridge that was most likely in construction at the beginning of the Naruto plot. Team 7's first C ranked mission took them to the Land of Waves, the location of this bridge. The man in charge of the bridge's contruction was Tazuna, who wanted to make this bridge in order to break Gato's monopoly over the country's trade, thus ending the country's poverty. The Great Naruto Bridge only appears in the Mission to the Land of Waves arc. The bridge, along with encouraging new trade, also was intended to be a symbol of courage, since Tazuna placed his life on the line in order to complete the bridge. Its construction met rough times when Zabuza Momochi and Haku slaughtered the construction workers prior to completion. The bridge ends up being the site of Zabuza's and Haku's death, along with the mastermind Gato. Once completed, Tazuna decides to name the bridge after Naruto, who, according to the bridge-builder, gave the country the courage it needed to stand up to Gato and his gang. After Sauske enlists Suigetsu, the first member of Snake, they make a journey to Zabuza's and Haku's graves. After noticing that the bridge's name is "The Great Naruto Bridge," Suigetsu attempts to pry a response from Sasuke. All he gets however is an "I don't really care."
